Academics

UG Teaching programme: MBBS students are posted for 15 days for clinical training in the department of Anaesthesiology during their surgery postings. During their postings in the department,  besides clinical exposure , they have demonstration of anaesthetic techniques and resuscitation training conducted by the faculty. Lectures (including palliative care classes) are scheduled during sixth semester.


PG Teaching Programme - M.D (1seat/year) & D.A (2seats/year): Post graduates are rotated between various surgical specialties. Faculty members take introductory lectures on induction of these students and guide them step by step during their postings in the operation theatres,  post operative care room and in the Intensive Care Units (ICU). The academic programme consists of lectures, discussions,  seminars,  case presentations,  journal clubs and periodical written tests. They are encouraged in research work and in attending CMEs,  clinical society meetings etc. For the benefit of examination going postgraduate students,  pro con sessions,  mock vivas and rapid fire discussions are held. Journal club meetings are held fortnightly.

PG teaching schedule:

  • Lectures and seminars (PG students) - Monday and Wednesday 2 - 4 pm
  • Lectures (Faculty) - Friday 2 - 4 pm
  • Case presentation/ discussions - Tuesday and Thursday 2 - 4 pm
  • Journal club - Alternate Saturdays - 8 - 9 am

 

Diploma in Anaesthesia Technology and Critical Care (CMAI): This is a longstanding philanthropic effort by the department to train paramedical students of the local community to be a valuable part of the larger medical fraternity and aspire to be the best in their field of service. The department has been facilitating and supervising hospitals all over India,  who step forward to socially uplift the community around them,  by providing certified training and facilitating placement. This course is affiliated to Christian Medical Association of India (CMAI).
